It’s the final day of the Ladies Who Launch (LWL) event in New York City and another dazzling day of inspiration and strategies.
Today’s key speakers included the humorous and wise author and life coach Martha Beck, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels Founder Anne Beiler, Communication Strategist Sam Horn and Omega Institute Co-Founder and Author Elizabeth Lesser.
In the inspiration department, Martha Beck won my heart. She wrote her first book with three kids under age five, in chronic pain and her hands in casts. “I did it by writing 15 minutes a day (with the eraser end of a pencil wedged between her fingers to type) and I would get half a page. By the end of the year I had 160 pages.” Her technique of taking “turtle steps” is key to her success. “If you take little turtle steps eventually you will get there. People try to take big steps when they should take tiny steps,” she said.
Later, I joined LWL Founder Victoria Colligan and a dozen other women for a private lunch with Martha Beck. Martha is one of the warmest, sweetest women ever and it was such a pleasure to get to know her.
With thanks to Women on Fire Marketing and Communications Director Jamie Eslinger, here is a wrap-up video from the conference.
