March’s Book To Live By

In 2008, photographer Amanda Lucidon accepted a buyout from her newspaper job and made a huge leap of faith. Almost on a whim, she moved from California to Washington, D.C.

Eventually, her risk paid off — in a big and enormously satisfying way.

From 2013 to 2017, Amanda served as a White House photographer — one of only a few women ever to hold that post. She was assigned to one of the most beloved and admired first ladies in U.S. history.

Now she shares how she worked her way into the White House and some of her favorite moments from this dream job.

I am so happy to present our March Book To Live By:

Chasing Light: Michelle Obama Through the Lens of a White House Photographer by Amanda Lucidon

Chasing Light by Amanda Lucidon

This beautiful and stirring collection of 150 photographs offers an intimate portrait of the gracious, generous, wise, witty, thoroughly authentic Mrs. Obama at work and play.

Amanda refers to the book as a “visual diary” of the time, and each page contains her reflections on documenting this historic period.

Mrs. Obama became a mentor and role model for Amanda and has inspired her life choices since leaving the White House. Amanda’s own journey is an uplifting part of the story.

Chasing Light will remind you of Mrs. Obama’s dedication to education and the arts, her support of military families, her fight against childhood obesity, and her work for and with our nation’s young people, especially girls, and so much more.

Of course, President Obama makes a few utterly charming appearances, as do their lovely daughters.

Many of these photographs have never been seen before.

Chasing Light is available from Amazon and bookstores everywhere.

I know you will treasure this insightful and delightful book!
