July’s Book To Live By

This month’s Books To Live By selection highlights the theme of our membership Inner Circle for July: Finding Your “Sweet Spot” for Joy and Productivity, featuring Christine Carter, Ph.D., happiness expert, sociologist, speaker, author, blogger and mom.

Our July selection is….

The Sweet Spot: How to Find Your Groove at Home and Work  by Christine Carter, Ph.D.

If you’re overwhelmed, overscheduled, overflowing with stress and have a tendency to seek perfection over progress, order this book immediately. 🙂

Christine has crafted one of the most powerful and practical guides to seeking more balance and less “busyness” that I have ever read.

The Sweet Spot is full of down-to-earth strategies that don’t require you to embrace an entirely new way of living and thinking in order to see change take place. Instead you’ll find easy-to-implement little tweaks that allow you to form healthier habits, leading you to genuine happiness and ease.

Not only that, Christine shows you proven practices that will help you transform your daily stress into fuel for more productive, patient and creative energy. And who couldn’t use a little more oomph? 🙂

Whether you’ve only glimpsed your sweet spot or are in it but afraid you’ll lose it, or even if you doubt that you have a sweet spot, Christine will help you find what she calls your “place of greatest strength but also greatest ease” and make sure you know how to stay there!

Lots of love,

Debbie Signature

August Book Of The Month

This month’s Books To Live By features our August theme —  Last Call for Summer Fun!

Island Girls By Nancy Thayer WOF Book To LIVE BY

We thought you might enjoy a great beach read and our selection is …

Island Girls (amazon link) by Nancy Thayer

I learn the best things from other Women on Fire!  And the choice of Island Girls is no exception.

Women on Fire member Trudy Dujardin gave me this book as a gift to introduce me to the work of her friend New York Times bestselling author Nancy Thayer.

The book had me at the cover.  Doesn’t it transport you right to your beach chair? 😉  Inside is just as inspiring!

Island Girls is the story of three estranged sisters, who are brought back together by the last wishes of their recently deceased father. The story takes place in their family summer home on Nantucket.

The author paints an emotionally charged, yet entertaining portrait of a family trying to come to terms with their past. It’s nearly impossible not to feel instantly connected to these women, and their struggle to navigate the aftermath of their father’s death.

Another bestselling author Susan Wiggs said about Island Girls, “here is a book to be savoried and passed on to the good women in your life.”

It’s a delicious summer read that I know you will enjoy.

Check out Island Girls and any of Nancy’s other popular titles— and let me know what you think.

Savor these waning days of summer and treat yourself to a little fun!
